How much do nanny jobs pay?
Nanny salaries can vary a lot and it depends on a number of different factors. Some of those considerations include:
Successful nannies that can be an "all-in-one" candidate are typically more indispensable. So, if a nanny can create a stimulating environment, engage in educational activities, and actually help with raising children will command a higher salary.
- Will the nanny be caring for multiple children?
- If the candidate will be doing children's laundry
- A live in nanny typically works on a reduced salary
- Candidates with a valid driver's license have increased compensation
- A hybrid nanny with assistant duties like grocery shopping have increased remuneration
- Professional training in child psychology warrants a pay raise

A final word on making a nanny job description
Job descriptions for nannies should be specific about the responsibilities so candidates know the scope of the job. We should be clear that a childcare professional, tutor, babysitter, nanny, au pair, governess, and assistant are all quite different jobs; and the duties should be melded together without consideration for a higher salary.
At the minimum, a nanny should have a high school diploma; but a BA degree in Education or Child Development would be appropriate if tutoring with the child will occur. Hybrid nanny jobs include candidates who perform household chores and meal preparation; and additional compensation is also customary in those circumstances.
