Life in a celebrity entourage
If you really want to know what it's like to work in a celebrity entourage, then I can tell you firsthand what it's like. I'm Brian Daniel, and I'm a former personal assistant to celebrities, royal families, and billionaires. I've been in many celebrity entourages.
What jobs do people have in a celebrity entourage?
The short answer: Some are just friends, but many of them actually have a job in the entourage. Here is a list of jobs for people that work in a celebrity entourage:
Personal Assistant
There are different levels for assistants. Some are just gofers (low-level errand runners). Others act in more senior assistant positions (like an executive assistant). The head personal assistant usually manages the calendar (both personal and professional). So, if someone wants to have your celebrity boss make a personal appearance at a charity fundraiser, the personal assistant will put it in the calendar once it's been approved by the agent.
Agent
The agent handles contracts and money. Simply put, they negotiate on behalf of the celebrity. The agent will also field job offers.
Publicity Rep
A publicity agent will decide if a certain offer, like working with a specific charity, has the kind of PR value that is in alignment with the celebrity's goals. The PR agent will travel in the entourage on days the "event" is going to happen.
Bodyguards
Celebrities need to be protected when they are in public or at home. Executive protection agents, also called close protection or private bodyguards, are often retired police officers or former Secret Service agents.
Friends
This one is a no-brainer. Some celebrities put their friends on payroll so the entourage can be even bigger.
Manager
This role is a little different than the agent. A business manager handles more of the day-to-day life of a celebrity. They also help steer the celebrity's career.
Celebrity Nanny
If you work for a high-profile celebrity who has children, like Mariah Carey, then a nanny will be part of the celebrity's entourage as well.
How much money do people in a celebrity entourage make?
Salaries when working in a celebrity entourage can vary a lot. It really depends on the duties and responsibilities of the person. Some of the people in the entourage -- believe it or not -- aren't getting paid anything. They get access to the lifestyle and the "bragging rights." Here is a salary range for celebrity entourage jobs:
In short, a celebrity entourage could literally be in the millions of dollars a year, so it's a very expensive "accoutrement."

What are some of the ridiculous jobs in a celebrity entourage?
There are quite a few rumors out there when it comes to crazy celebrity entourage jobs. We have to say that the bra handler, human alarm clock, battery changer, and sweat wiper are totally fake; however, the drink holder and umbrella carrier are in fact real.
