Hollywood Creative Directory: 2025 Updates & Profile
The Hollywood Creative Directory (HCD) was former publication that was considered to be the "Hollywood bible" because it was the definitive industry directory with all the addresses to producers, directors, agencies and actors in Los Angeles, New York, and beyond. Starting in 1993, the listings also had contact information like a phone and fax number.
Why did the Hollywood Creative Directory go bankrupt?
The best analogy, honestly, would be comparing Blockbuster Video and Netflix. The HCD dominated the entertainment industry for decades and, in the later years, was purchased by The Hollywood Reporter, but that couldn't save it from its demise.
One of the most significant drawbacks to the Hollywood Creative Directory was that it was a physical book. The latest print was outdated as soon as it was issued because executives moved companies, actors changed agencies, etc. At one point, the Hollywood Creative Directory did go online, but it was too little, too late because they still went out of business.
NOTE: Please also be advised that the parent company that took over the HCD, Prometheus Global Media, is also bankrupt.

Is the HCD available in college and university libraries?
For nostalgic people, a hard copy of the Hollywood Creative Directory can be obtained on Amazon.com or in the archives of any university; however, it would be completely useless because the addresses, phone numbers, and fax numbers will be outdated.
Could I get a PDF or free copy of the Hollywood Creative Directory?
If you're interested in getting the address to a famous production company or contacting any of the Hollywood studios, a print or PDF copy of the Hollywood creative directory won't help you because there are no 2024 or 2025 issues. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter lists the 2008 version of the publication as their last.
NOTE: The publication also made a directory for distribution, representation, and music; but all of them are defunct.

How can I contact celebrities, agencies, producers, or directors?
We can coach you about how to pitch your ideas to actors, producers, and directors. We can even supply you with business addresses to "decision makers," but we do NOT give personal phone numbers, home addresses, or direct emails to VIPs.
Note that getting movies or TV shows made is like "winning the lottery," so coaching in no way implies or expressly guarantees that the VIPs you write to will even write you back. The decision makers in Hollywood get tens of thousands of emails and letters every year, so they are overwhelmed with solicitations. We only guide you about how to "throw your hat into the ring." Nothing more, nothing less.

Note that we are not associated with the HCD in any way. This data was found using publicly available information. Do not send us any intellectual property, screenplays, or movie ideas. We are not a literary agency, and we delete all submissions of this type for legal reasons. We cannot pass your screenplay to Brad Pitt, but we can consult with you about how to submit your ideas to talent agencies for consideration. Again, we don't recommend ordering any old books because they won't help you. All of the addresses won't be current.
