personal assistants for rich students

High-net-worth college students hire personal assistants

When one thinks of being in college, it often conjures up memories of eating instant noodles and being totally broke. Well, that's not true for everyone, especially for the high-net-worth families who send their kids to top-tier colleges. It may be hard to believe, but some families commonly hire personal assistants for wealthy college students.

It's hard enough to keep up with the fast pace of today's society, but especially when you have a myriad of demands and obligations in college. Keeping track of all the classes, essays, and mid-term tests is difficult. Then you have the personal obligations: grocery shopping, keeping the apartment clean, and running errands. Well, if you've got the budget, why not hire a personal assistant to make it easier?

How to be a personal assistant to a wealthy college student

It might seem easy, conceptually, but being a personal assistant to an affluent family is very difficult. They can be eccentric and eclectic, so managing the personality of the person you serve is difficult enough. Essentially, it's sort of like being a butler, housekeeper, nanny and concierge, all rolled into one.

Most affluent families that hire personal assistants for their college-aged children are very particular. They want a trained personal assistant because they can afford the best. It takes a lot of patience, thick skin, and amazing resilience to make it work.

How much do assistants to wealthy college students make?

If a wealthy family wants to hire a refined and sophisticated personal assistant for a college student, then $50 an hour is usually the floor price. In large cities, especially for full-time assistants, salaries can soar to $20,000 a month. It's a very demanding job, and if the family wants someone educated and experienced, then they have to dig deep into those pockets.
