Regional Estate Manager to an UHNWI in the Midwest
Job description
POSTING: WA1828 (OPEN)
TITLE: Regional Estate Manager
LOCATION: Client HQ is in the Pacific Northwest, USA (80% of the time is spent in the Midwest)
INDUSTRY: Undisclosed
HOURS: Full time+ (Some holidays and weekends)
TRAVEL: Frequently
EDUCATION LEVEL: BA degree required (master's degree preferred)
PRIOR EXPERIENCE: 10 years minimum/recent (full time)
RELOCATION ALLOWANCE: Yes
PAY: A very competitive compensation package + company car, luxury accommodations, a full benefits package, matching 401K, overtime, and year-end bonuses based on performance. (An estimated value of $350,000 a year).
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our client is an ultra-high net worth individual with vast real estate holdings and land ownership. While the client does have estates throughout the country and internationally, this position primarily involves the management of estates and land throughout the Midwest. Candidates with experience working on ranches or farms with considerable acreage are ideal.
The candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of experience working with UHNW families and high-profile individuals. Extensive estate management experience is required in homes that are 10,000 to 20,000 (or more) square feet.
A typical 9-to-5 day is expected when the principal is not in town, but the candidate will work substantially more hours when the principal is in-house.
The candidate will spend much time on the road traveling throughout the Greater Midwest to oversee local domestic staff and ensure that the live-in staff are properly maintaining the estates and keeping updated records.
For confidentiality reasons, the locations of the land and estates are not listed in the job description but will be revealed during the interview process. The VIP is based in the Pacific Northwest, but the candidate will be primarily working out of a specific estate in the Midwest and will regularly travel between the other estates throughout the Greater Midwest.
The candidate will make one or two extended trips to the Pacific Northwest each year and will interact with the VIP at various estates in the Midwest as well. Other trips domestically and internationally are not uncommon.
Sometimes other business leaders and celebrities stay at the VIP's estates, so the candidate will sometimes need to be flexible and leap into action on a moment's notice to oversee operations at one of the estates when VIP guests arrive. That circumstance sometimes requires moving some of the live-in staff from one estate to another property where the VIP guests will be staying. All of the estates have adequate living quarters dedicated especially for the domestic staff.
The domestic staff currently in place are quite adept at this "staff shuffle" routine because they know all of the properties by heart and have been doing the procedure for years. Depending on which estate the VIP guests will be staying -- and how much notice is given -- depends on how the domestic staff will be transported from one estate to another: private plane, helicopter, commercial travel, or driving in a caravan of vehicles.
The candidate should have experience working with Close Protection teams and managing a large number of domestic staff when the VIPs (or special guests) are in-house: housekeepers, chefs, gardeners, engineers, personal assistants, etc. The candidate will be interacting regularly with the Chief of Staff (part of the Family Office) who oversees all of the property managers, estate managers, personal assistants, and the administration team globally.
Candidates must have a very high level of emotional intelligence and be used to working under tremendous pressure while "juggling" many projects and managing all of the "moving parts" in the operation. Think about being the captain for one of the navy's largest warships with jetfighter planes and extensive crew (that's figuratively what you're going to be facing). Candidates must be absolutely unflappable and have a "service heart" with incredibly thick skin.
Many people working with the VIP have moved up within the organization to very high-ranking positions with extraordinary levels of responsibility and exceptional compensation packages. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with a renowned business leader and one of the largest landowners in the United States.
No phone calls or deliveries, please. Because of the very high volume of submissions, only short-listed candidates will be contacted. Thanks for your understanding.
NOTE: Candidates need to be aware of the following (non-negotiable):
