Assistants won't be replaced by artificial intelligence
There is a lot of talk in the news lately about artificial intelligence and ChatGPT, and some news outlets are hyping the idea that assistants are going to be replaced by technology. Executive assistants play a vital role in corporate offices, and personal assistants are also very important in the households they serve. In short, using software can't replace a human.
What software has done is elevate the role of an assistant because the simpler tasks can be handled by AI, which will free up time for assistants to do the higher-order thinking. For example, the software can give suggestions about where to have a wedding, but you still need an assistant to plan the wedding and order invitations.

AI helps assistants, but it could never replace them
In the movie "Her" starring Joaquin Phoenix, the main character falls in love with his AI assistant, who has human-like emotions. It's certainly romantic on a weird kind of level, but we know that the movie is a science-fiction fantasy. Assistants have intuition, higher order thinking, and solve very complex problems for their bosses.
The fact of the matter is that we are probably hundreds of years away from AI being advanced enough to replace assistants; and when that happens, the robots will also replace the overpaid CEOs that hire assistants in the first place.
