Tanner & Haley in the News
Many elite publications became interested in Tanner & Haley: The New York Times, TIME Magazine, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, and Robb Report -- just to name a few.
In the end, there were so many Destination Clubs that they "cannibalized" each other because there was an oversaturation of choices.
What were destination clubs?
The travel industry was trying to reinvent itself, and the internet was becoming more and more popular, so companies were offering exclusive destinations for high-net-worth spenders. In short, it was a glorified version of "time share," but for wealthy people.
In the end, the business model didn't work, and dozens of companies who were using the model ultimately closed. In the end, Airbnb had a much simpler business model, and no joining fees. Some of the destination clubs were charging up to $1,000,000 just to join, and that didn't even count the dues that needed to be paid.

Drawbacks to Destination Clubs
In addition to the large upfront fees, the internet was in its infancy when the destination clubs were popular. That posed two problems:
- Firstly, the websites weren't so advanced as to let clients get a virtual tour of the property.
- Secondly, third-party review platforms like Yelp weren't pervasive, so there was no reliable way for clients to determine the true value of what they were purchasing.
