Summary

A private family with two residences in metro Detroit is seeking a professional, hands-on Executive Housekeeper to maintain their homes to the highest standards. This role supports daily cleaning, organization, seasonal projects, pet-related tasks, and smooth household operations in partnership with a small team (Property Manager, part-time Housekeeper, Gardener/IT support).

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a mature, flexible, upbeat attitude, strong organizational abilities, and comfort working both independently and collaboratively. The household values long-term employees, offering training, clarity, and a supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping & Household Presentation
  • Maintain both residences with exceptional attention to cleanliness, organization, and daily presentation.
  • Care for fine furnishings, artwork, antiques, specialty finishes, and delicate materials.
  • Manage rotating deep-clean schedules, seasonal cleaning, and monthly cleaning projects.
  • Oversee carpet, upholstery, silver, furniture, woodwork care, and holiday decorating.
  • Tackle longer-term or deferred projects when the family is not in residence.
  • Supervise and collaborate with part-time housekeeper; assist with hands-on tasks as needed.
  • Oversee laundry and linen care: bedding changes, personal laundry, ironing, towel rotation.
  • Track dry cleaning in/out for multiple vendors.
Household Management and Administration
  • Maintain household inventories, manuals, and simple filing systems.
  • Order and manage all cleaning supplies; keep inventories current.
  • Support light household stocking, grocery lists, and occasional errands.
  • Assist with online orders, returns, and simple Outlook updates (preferred).
  • Comfortable learning and using Outlook Contacts/Calendar, Excel, and Word.
  • Assist with scheduling for social, medical, business, pets, vendors, employees, and repairs.
  • Coordinate IT/tech support with employers and the Gardener/IT helper.
Financial Coordination
  • Scan, organize, and submit timecards to the family accountant for payroll.
  • Review and enter 3–4 routine monthly household bills online.
  • When principals are away, scan/email bills for approval prior to submitting to accountant.
Property & Vendor Support
  • Communicate maintenance needs to the Property Manager; help oversee vendor access.
  • Coordinate with part-time staff (housekeeper, gardener, seasonal helpers).
  • Support seasonal household activities and small family gatherings.
  • Assist with pet-related oversight: comfortable around animals, not allergic to cats, able to coordinate or arrange weekend pet care if needed.
Wine Support (Optional, not required)
  • Assist with wine ordering, storage, and racking.
  • Support quarterly inventory data entry (Excel) with outside help as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years in an Executive Housekeeper or similar role in a private residence.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning methods for fine materials, artwork, antiques, and specialty surfaces.
  • Experience managing household inventories, manuals, and rotating task schedules.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain impeccable household standards.
  • Experience in personal or professional budgeting or household bill oversight (helpful but not required).
  • Comfortable with family members, guests, pets, and visiting children.
  • Clear communicator with a warm, service-minded demeanor.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license for errands if required.
  • Tech-comfortable or tech-trainable (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
  • Self-starter with maturity, professionalism, flexibility, and sense of humor.
  • Must be cat-friendly and able to coordinate pet care when needed.
