When in the personal assistant business, we often refer to a “house bible” — and we don’t mean anything religious. A house bible is a collection of important documents that gives you at-a-glace information about your job and the estate you work in. So, in short, it’s a collection of phone numbers to repair men, plumbers, auto detailers, etc.
Each house bible is unique to the employer, so there is no standard as to what it should contain. Some employers also have excel spreadsheets with password information, as well as a list of current and past employees. This house bible should be locked in a safe at night or when nobody is home — for obvious reasons. You would never want this private and sensitive information to get into the wrong hands.
